Stroke of silence

Quiet peace broken
Car doors slamming
Someone flying to see
Baby crying, a woman screaming
Falling falling down
on the ground
Panicked scuffles
Body shuffles
Cold, so cold
Crowd forms, whispers torn
from scared unknowing lips
Flashing lights and cold walls
people being shoved in stalls
Then silence
Needles and blankets
and moving beds
Lots of whites and reds
Hands reaching
touching, poking
trying to stabilize
the silence
