I am my own captor
And I am the prisoner
Caged in my own mind
And also in my own flesh
Enslaved by ignorance
Addictions and habits
Bound by desires
By notions and beliefs
By my fears and doubts
With chains so tight
In dungeons so dark
So lonely and lost
I crumble within
If I don’t break free
I will wither and die
My chance of escape
Is to battle within
To slay the dragon
I must face myself
I have to be brave
I have to be strong
With a will to fight
And the spirit to win
I mustn’t lose hope
I mustn’t give up
For if I lose my fate is sealed
To live a life devoid of light
Trapped in the dark
Full of lies and true lies
A world of pain and despair
My choices, actions and decisions
Form my will and my power
To step into the light……….
Only I hold the golden key
That opens the doors…….. to my freedom
