waiting for you to come home...

waiting for you to come home…

A cool, crisp breeze
sneaks lazily through the creaks,
chilling the air all around me
I shiver softly;
perhaps involuntary
missing the blankety warmth
of you all around me
I lie here shivering,
missing you
waiting for you to come home

With no other warmth, like that of deeply loved one, the scene set in the midst of a deep winter, the waiting, pining and missing dearly trickle through the lines, sneaking into the heart of the reader through the writer’s thoughts.
